About Studio Magicae
Studio Magicae: A Journal of Practical and Theoretical Magic is an interdisciplinary, open access journal on magic, the occult, esotericism, and other related topics.
Our goals:
- Look at a broad spectrum of magical traditions and build connections between them
- Offer articles from a variety of magical practitioners, scholars, and thinkers
- Create a space for serious engagement of the subjects that is both thoughtful and rigorous but is not necessarily academic in nature
- Have articles that are more rigorous than a typical blog post while still enlisting the lived experience of practitioners
- Allow scholars and practitioners to share their work, knowledge, or experience
- Run parallel to the academic and public discourses and synthesize them together
- Provide a place for a community to develop ideas together
- Promote our authors’ work and ideas while providing them a platform to reach those who might otherwise not be familiar
